Studi Lingkungan Pengendapan Formasi Jaten pada Daerah Pandean, Dongko, Kabupaten Trenggalek, Jawa Timur
Abstract
The geological zone of the Southern Mountains has been studied systematically and extensively. However, the study of the geology of Java, especially in the Southern Mountain Zone, is still limited. Studies on stratigraphy of Trenggalek in the period 1992-2022 has not discussed the depositional environment of the Jaten Formation. The research location is in Dongko District which includes Cakul Village, Petung Village, Salamwates Village, and Pandean Village, which located in Trenggalek Regency, East Java Province. The research method consists of collecting data in the field and laboratory analysis to determine the bathymetric zone and the depositional environment in the research area. The rock units in the research area are divided into 3 units from old to young, Breccia-volcanic unit – Mandalika, Limestone unit – Campurdarat, Sandstone unit – Jaten. The geological structure that develops in the research area is a left-lateral strike slip fault in the Pandean and Cakul areas. Results based on the analysis of the stratigraphic cross section of the depositional environment in the research area are continental and marine. The breccia-volcanic unit – Mandalika was deposited in a continental environment with proximal facies, Limestone unit – Campurdarat was deposited in an open marine environment with carbonate facies, namely slope and platform margin reefs in the bathymetry zone of edge neritic – outer neritic. Sandstone unit – Jaten deposited at transition with tidal flat facies in the Intertidal zone.
